He will be responsible for promoting both the Kent Blaxill Colchester branch and its building materials Xpress lorry, which provides same-day deliveries for local builders around the town.

Andrews has 20 years’ experience working in both sales and management with a national building supplies company.

The 51-year-old said: “I am enjoying working with an independent merchant which has excellent relationships with both its suppliers and customers and focuses on service.”

Andy Whitney, sales manager, said that Andrews, who is working in tandem with brick business manager Shaun Balaam, is already getting a good response. “We listened to our local customers and they asked for a proactive account manager and responsive service. We have delivered both through appointing Mark and I am very pleased with the early results.” said Whitney.

Meanwhile, Damien Ferridge has been appointed territory manager for plumbing and heating sales, which is a new position. Ferridge will drive Kent Blaxill’s expanding plumbing business at Colchester and Ipswich.
