Lords' Golf Day raises charity cash

Ealing Golf Club hosted 60 of their Lords’ best customers and main suppliers, with a further 30 attending dinner in the evening.

The evening included an auction to raise additional funds for the charity and made £2,500 – this will be further supplemented by Lords with a £7,500 donation from the Lords Foundation.

This year, the emphasis of the fundraising element was the work that Save the Children is doing on child labour in Ecuador. Poverty has a huge impact on these children; over 500,000 are actively engaged in child labour , meaning that many of them fail to receive any kind of education. Nearly 25% of those under 14 years old do not attend school at all.

In Ecuador 8% of children between 5 and 14 are engaged in full time work most commonly in agriculture, informal trading, construction, domestic and mining.
