Lliw Building Supplies gets green credentials

The Green Dragon Environmental Standard from the Groundwork Wales organisation recognises effective environmental management and offers an environmental management system relevant to the specific and individual needs of companies and organisations across Wales.

Lliw sales director Keith Gerrett told buildersmerchantsjournal.net that the company has introduced a number of environmental policies and that staff have “embraced” these.

“We recycle our waste pallets, timber, paper, cardboard, polythene packaging, coffee cups and drink bottles,” he said.

“Another initiative was to install our own rain water harvester and recycle water into our building.

“We have an on-going policy of reducing our waste to landfill and set target to reduce our environmental impact with a range of other initiatives’.

Groundwork in Wales is a leading local, regional and national environmental regeneration network building sustainable communities across Wales.

Groundwork works with communities, public bodies, private companies and voluntary sector organisations to empower communities, building confidence and sustainability across the whole of Wales – socially, economically and environmentally.
