The winner of the competition will face the Dutchman in a best-of-five legs 501 encounter during a private exhibition at PPG Canalside in Huddersfield on the afternoon of Friday 26 September.

The winner will also be invited to bring two friends to the special event, who will also get the chance to play a leg against Leyland Paints-sponsored ‘Mighty Mike’.

In January 2014, van Gerwen became the youngest player ever to win the PDC World Darts Championship, beating Peter Wright 7-4 at the Alexandra Palace, London. More recently, he lost to darting legend Phil Taylor in the World Matchplay final in Blackpool last month.

Details of how to enter the competition can be found here.

In June 2014, the tabloid newspaper teamed up with builders merchant chain Buildbase to offer readers the chance to win a £20,000 make-over for their sport clubhouse.
