South West Wales’ independent builders’ merchants, LBS Builders Merchants, has entered 80 employees into this year’s ‘Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest’ race in Cardiff. The event takes place on the 28th of September 2014, and will be the largest mass participation event in the company’s history.
Survival of the Fittest is a gruelling 10km urban assault course. The race is organised by market leaders ‘Rat Race Adventure Sports’. In 2013, they were responsible for staging the world’s biggest assault course, breaking Guinness World Records for race structures – such as the longest ever monkey bar obstacle, measuring 360ft.
The race will be full of tough obstacles, such as a ‘giant slippery wall’, an ‘army assault course’, and a ‘mud run’.
Staff across all branches and divisions of LBS will be running, including people from the plumber’s merchant, Total Plumbing and LBS’ specialist roofing branch, Caseys.
The money raised will go to a number of charities nominated by the entrants: Cancer Research UK, Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre Swansea, British Heart Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support.
LBS have set up Twitter (@LBS_SOTF2014) and Facebook (facebook.com/LBS.SOTF2014) accounts for the event. These were set up with the intention of promoting the event, following fitness related accounts for tips and advice, connecting with employees, and networking with our chosen charities.
LBS customers and friends are being asked to support LBS by using its Virgin Giving online page
