Lawsons league table: correction

An error in compiling the data obtained from Companies House meant that BMJ used the wrong figures for independent builders merchant Lawsons in the League Tables 2013.
Lawsons (Holdings) turned over £58.47m in the 12 months to June 30 2012, a 5.8% increase on the 2011 figures of £55.3m. This takes it out of the bottom five table.

Lawsons Holdings includes the companies Lawsons (Whetstone) and Sharvatt Woolwich, the timber merchant formed in 2005 by the merger of William Sharvatt & Son Ltd and Lawsons Woolwich.

The figure erroneously published in January 2013 BMJ was that for Lawsons (Whetstone), a fully-owned sibsidiary of Lawsons (Holdings) and which, at £51.48m, represented a rise of 8% on its previous year’s turnover.

Apologies to Lawsons for the error.
