Lafarge taps into tubs

Cement manufacturer Lafarge has launched a range of cements in new tub packaging this month.

The move will help plumbers, electricians, maintenance contractors, DIYers and jobbing builders, who use smaller quantities of material for each application but want to avoid wasting unused product.

Products in tubs are Ready-to-Use Mortar Mix, Multi-Purpose Concrete, Repair Concrete and Extra Rapid Cement.

The plastic, resealable, recyclable tubs provide a flexible and cost-effective solution for small jobs such as mortar patching, concreting and quick repairs.

They also extend the customer base to plumbers and electricians, who regularly use small amounts of cement, mortar or concrete for patching up areas they are working on.

Users have the option of either mixing the product in the tub or using a little and resealing the unused material for their next job.

The resealable nature of the tubs means that less dust is created when the product is transport around.

Chris Cooper, strategic marketing manager, Lafarge Cement, said: “We spoke to over 200 cement users and found that DIYers, plumbers, maintenance contractors and electricians in particular welcome the new product format which makes products easier to store, create less dust and resealable.

“We already know from the popularity of our plastic packaging that there is a real commercial benefit in merchants stocking value-added products and our tubs create a new and exciting opportunity for our customers to drive sales.”
