Employees at the St Helens plant of insulation manufacturer Knauf Insulation held a series of fundraising events for Macmillan Cancer Support last week.
Events included a coffee morning for the 270 staff last Friday (October 21), a bake sale, dress down day and raffle. The total raised was £700.
Deborah Monk, health trainer from St Helens Council’s Health Improvement Team also paid a visit to the insulation manufacturer to provide staff with information and advice about health and cancer awareness.
Lydia Sharples. Head of Communications, Knauf Insulation, said: “Macmillan Cancer Support helps to fund essential treatment and support to those affected by cancer.
“The disease affects around 309,500 people every year in the UK, however the earlier it is spotted, the higher the chances of being cured. We wanted to not only raise funds to support the great work that Macmillan does, but to use the day as an opportunity to educate our employees about the disease.”
