Independent East Anglian builders merchant Kent Blaxill will be travelling to all eight of its branches in a cycle ride to celebrate 175 years of continuous trading.
The route, which coincidently is 175 miles long, will see 14 teams of four riding in a relay style, starting from Braintree and heading onto branches in Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Norwich, Melton, Ipswich and finally over to Kirby before taking on the last leg back to the Colchester branch.
The teams will consist of Kent Blaxill staff, including 2 members of the Blaxill family (Simon Blaxill managing director and his son Josh) and Ben Kent who is on the Board.
Other manufacturers and suppliers taking part in the ride include main sponsors Crown Trade, as well as Stoneham Kitchens, Expamet, Ibstock, Rixonway, Global Stone, All About Bricks, XL Joinery and Tembe DIY.
Other teams consist of Kent Blaxill customers including- Horizon Construction, Rose Builders, Yates Developments and TJ Evers.
The event is not intended to be a race, but as a challenge and a chance for all who are participating to enjoy the landscape of the East Anglian countryside.
All proceeds raised by the event will go towards Ken Blaxill’s charity for the year CLIC Sargent – a charity that supports children and young people with cancer.
It is the builders merchant’s chosen charity after a young work colleague recently died, but he and his family had benefitted from the support of CLIC Sargent.
