A group of employees from two Leicestershire branches of builders’ merchant, Jewson, have climbed to the summit of Mount Snowdon after completing a hike.
The team of eight from the Humberstone Road and Cannock Street branches of Jewson in Leicester raised over £2,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The group was of mixed ages and abilities, including some seasoned walkers and others who entered into regular training for the challenge. The group reached the summit in less than three hours through some varied and often difficult weather conditions.
Chris Heeks, branch manager at the Humberstone Road branch said: “We are extremely proud of the ‘Leicester Merchants’ team. The summit of Snowdon is 1,085 metres high and to reach that in less than three hours is a superb achievement. A special thanks goes to the local suppliers who helped the team raise so much money for a fantastic cause.”
Suppliers and local businesses that supported the team included companies such as GRS Group, Polypipe and Interfuse Ltd.
