Jewson tackles rugby in York

Builders merchant group Jewson has agreed a sponsorship deal with York Acorn, a rugby team that plays in amateur rugby league’s elite tier, the National Conference League premier division.

The Jewson logo will feature on the front of York Acorn’s rugby jerseys under the new sponsorship deal.

Matt Freer, manager of the Jewson store in Green Lane, Clifton said: “York is renowned for its rugby talent and Acorn are at the forefront of not only the city’s but the national rugby scene. Jewson has a strong presence in York with a large customer base. We recognise their passion for the sport and are proud to make this official association with the club.”

Acorn also has junior sides from under-8s upwards.

Club secretary Alan Havercroft said: “We are delighted Jewson. have agreed to come on board as a sponsor for the season. We have worked extremely hard to develop a strong brand, and it is particularly satisfying that the strength of the brand is such that we are able to confirm a sponsor of the calibre of Jewson. We are extremely grateful to all our sponsors and partners, who have a big part to play in what we are attempting to do here.”

Jewson were formerly sponsors of professional side Gloucester..
