Jewson director bailed over alleged £1m fraud

Tony Newman, former director of sales for Jewson, has been charged and bailed following accusations of a £1m fraud reported last month by BuildersMerchantsJournal.net.

West Midlands police who are heading up the investigation confirmed to BMJ that a gentleman had been bailed in connection with the charges but could not confirm any further details.

Jewson were also remaining tight-lipped today apart from to confirm that the matter was “the subject of an ongoing police investigation”. Frazer md Steve Warwick has been appointed interim Jewson sales director in addition to his current role with the sister company.
