Builders merchant Jewson and plumbers merchant Graham have committed to a new charity partnership under their ‘together’ scheme.
Over the next two years, the companies will raise money for Barnardo’s, the charity which supports over 100,000 children, young people and their families every year.
Every branch of the merchants will be lending its support to the charity with a number of fundraising initiatives planned.
The partnership, which also covers the other Saint Gobain Building Distribution companies, was celebrated with a launch event at the head office in Binley, aimed at kicking off proceedings in a big way. Activities include a cricket match, a five-mile run and a week long football competition.
Peter Hindle MBE, managing director of Jewson, who received his honour for founding the pioneering ‘together’ programme, said: “As part of our commitment to sustainable development, we have a long and well established tradition of supporting many local community projects and charities.
“Our staff are incredibly enthusiastic about our new partnership with Barnardo’s and have already started planning some truly inspiring fundraising events and activitities with our customers and suppliers.”
Since its launch in 2002 ‘together’ has raised over £2 million for worthy causes including Help the Hospices, the British Heart Foundation, Great Ormond Street and Cancer Research UK.
David Gledhill, managing director of Graham said: “It’s through the passion and unbelievable effort of our staff that we are able to make the ‘together’ programme such a successful one. I would encourage our customers to find out what their local branch has planned across the year and if they can – get involved, as it’s for such a great cause.”
