Jewson adds branch in Shetland

Builders merchant chain Jewson has bought Lerwick Builders Centre.

LBC is the largest independent merchant in Shetland and provides a wide range of products for general construction as well as bathrooms, kitchens, fireplaces, tiling and lighting.

Jewson believes that, with LBC already providing “unrivalled support for both trade and DIY customers on the island”, becoming part of the Jewson group would offer local customers “excellent access to the benefits of a national network”.

All staff currently with LBC will be moving over to Jewson.

LBC owner Leslie Irvine said that, following the sale, he now wanted to concentrate on his other services. “I’d like to thank all my customers for their loyalty over the years,” he said. “It’s business as usual for the furniture shop, the garage and the plant hire, and Irvine Contractors.”
