Ivan Savage retires from Carvers

Carver group sales director, Ivan Savage, the first non family director to retire from the 112 year old business will retire from the main board later this month.

Prior to joining the Carver business in 1993, Savage had already been employed in the timber industry for thirty years, initially on the South Coast with A. Olby & Son Ltd (now part of the Covers Group), then relocating to the Midlands in 1976 to join Cox Long Ltd at Stafford and subsequently with S Jackson & Co (Walsall) Ltd which was purchased by Carvers in 1993.

From 1982 to 1996, he was considerably involved in athletics in North Staffordshire and competed in 29 marathons, 135 triathlons and over 250 other road and fell races.

Since 1998, he has been active on the Wolverhampton City Marathon Committee, acting as Chairman since 2005 and is currently a Trustee of the Marathon registered charity.

The Carver Group are promoters and main sponsors of this annual city event that has raised funds for local organisations totalling over £160,000.

He will remain as a Director of Engineered Timber Solutions Ltd, trussed rafter manufacturers, based near Shrewsbury and fifty percent owned by the Carver Group and will continue in a sales consultancy role for both E.T.S Ltd and Carvers.

He will also have a sales and technical involvement on behalf of a European manufacturer of engineered wood products with a UK operation and distribution office in the south east.
