Online and mail order supplier of ironmongery, IronmongeryDirect has reported record results for the year ended December 31 2012.
Revenue grew 22% to £18.1m , of which £7.5m was online – a rise of 29% on the previous year. Pre-tax profits were 37% up at £1.3m.
The company has reported achieving major efficiency benefits from a £2.5m investment in infrastructure as well as the introduction of over 2,000 new products.
Managing director, Wayne Lysaght-Mason, said: “We are pleased that despite tough times in the industry we have managed our eighth consecutive year of strong growth. It really goes to show just how important it is to understand our customers and continue to adapt to their needs.”
During the year, the company introduced free returns, extended the Sunday order cut-off to 3.30pm for Monday delivery, and launched a mobile website, which contributed to the 29% increase in online turnover.
Lysaght-Mason continues: ” Whilst we expect the market to remain relatively flat, we are confident that our plans to further enhance our customer proposition will see us continue to expand our share of the market and grow IronmongeryDirect into a £50m+ turnover business.”
