Huws Gray’s sales top £100m in 25th year

Huws Gray targets further growth in its 25th year after continued growth in the construction sector.
2014 was a period of consolidation and integration following significant acquisition investments during 2012/13, according to the builders’ merchant.

In December 2014, the business increased turnover from £95.5m to £116.6m, while pre-tax profit increased from £9.5m to £15m. Huws Gray reported a 24th consecutive year of growth. They have more than doubled their turnover between 2008 to 2014.

Increasing activity in the construction market during the first half of 2014 helped drive growth, although output was said to have decreased to a normalised level in the last half of 2014.

In early 2015, Huws Gray agreed a five-year £30m revolving credit facility with HSBC to accelerate strategic acquisitions and organic expansion plans. This allowed them to introduce several new branches to the existing trading network.

Also in September, Huws Gray acquired RW Almond Builders Merchants as they rejoined the acquisition trail.
