Huws Gray launches new charity partnership

Independent builders’ merchants Huws Gray has formed a new charity partnership with Sepsis Trust UK for 2017.

The partnership will see Huws Gray raising awareness of the serious illness and fundraising throughout the branch network to help support the trust.

Sepsis is a serious life threatening infection and the Sepsis Trust UK was founded in 2012 to reach out and bring together those who have survived, been bereaved by or encountered sepsis in every imaginable circumstance. They aim to save lives and improve outcomes for survivors of sepsis by educating healthcare professionals, raising public awareness and providing support for those affected.

Huws Gray have experienced the force of sepsis first hand after the sudden loss of company director, Elfed Hughes who died May 2016 after a short battle against the infection. He had been with Huws Gray for 24 years and played a major role in developing and monitoring certain departments as well as playing a key role in the company’s growth and management.

Managing director, Terry Owen said: “Elfed’s contribution over the 24 years he was with us was exceptional. His willingness to take responsibility combined with passion, determination and honesty made him a very special person. He is sorely missed by all of us here at Huws Gray.

“We are delighted that we can partner up with Sepsis Trust UK to help raise awareness of this serious illness and raise essential funds to help the trust invest in new technology to help fight the condition. As a company it’s fantastic for us to be able to do this in the memory of Elfed and we’ll be pulling together as a company to do what we can.”

Fiona Lawrence from Sepsis Trust UK said: “We’re delighted to have Huws Gray on board as a charity partner for 2017. We look forward to working with Huws Gray to raise awareness of Sepsis to help minimise the number of fatalities and families affected by this serious illness.”
