Anglesey-based builders and timber merchant Huws Gray has boosted its branch total to 60 with the purchase of  second merchant business in Yorkshire.

Bradford based M.J Moulson Builders Merchants follows on from this year’s earlier purchase of James Wilby  and significantly strengthens Huws Gray’s presence in Yorkshire. M.J. Moulson  has been established since 1810. It is one of the largest independent builders’ merchant in its area with the business operating from the three acre site.

M.J. Moulson Director Steve Liles said: “As a company we’ve had great success over the years, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the trade and public in the area and assisting them with their building & DIY requirements. We’re delighted to be leaving the business in such good hands as they are looking to improve and invest even further. We’re excited to see what’s in store for M.J. Moulson under the Huws Gray umbrella. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the knowledgeable staff and all our customers for the support over the years, Moulsons wouldn’t have been such a success without them and we are certain that they will be well looked after by Huws Gray.”

Huws Gray managing directorTerry Owen said:  “We’re delighted to make this acquisition on the back of the successful acquisition of James Wilby earlier this year. Moulsons are a well-respected business in the area and have built up a fantastic reputation, we’re determined to make sure that Huws Gray builds on the fantastic work that the previous owners have done here and develop the branch alongside the existing team in 2017 and beyond.

“As a company, we have always aimed to reinvest in new branches and our existing locations so we can keep pushing the company forward as well as ensuring we can offer our employees new challenges and opportunities. The opening of our 60th branch is a fantastic achievement for us from starting in 1990 on Anglesey, we’re looking forward to see what the future has in store for us.”
