Huws Gray buys Simmonds of Stafford

Anglesey-based builders’ merchants Huws Gray has bought  builders’ merchant Simmons of Stafford and  specialist plumbing and heating business W.Dop & Son in Pwllheli (Gwynedd).

These acquisitions increase the total number of Huws Gray branches to 57.

So far, the company has made six 6 acquisitions involving 12 new trading locations  in 2016.

Huws Gray managing director Terry Owen said: “We’re delighted with our latest acquisitions as of Simmons of Stafford widens our activities in Staffordshire. It’s a fantastic fit for us in terms of location and links up our recent acquisition of Shropshire Building Supplies and our existing Stoke and Derby branches.

W.Dop & Son in Pwllheli will allow us to expand our product offering in the Gwynedd area and beyond by offering quality plumbing and heating materials as well as high-quality showroom products.”

Simmons of Stafford’s managing director, Chris Simmons, said: “We have been very impressed with Huws Gray’s approach and professionalism and we’re appreciative of the way their team has conducted the acquisition. I would like to thank our loyal customers for their support over the years and making Simmons the success it is today.
