HSE launch safety drive

The Health and Safety Executive have announced a ‘Falls from Vehicles’ campaign for this autumn. Click on the headline to find out how this issue could affect your business.

HSE launch safety drive

The initiative, which will run from October to December this year, is being launched to cut the number of injuries and deaths caused by falls from vehicles across all industries. Something that costs British businesses nearly £37m in human and economic costs.

This is an issue that could directly affect your business, regardless of the types or heights of vehicles your company uses. Figures from the HSE show that 90% of all injuries sustained in falls from vehicles are from falls below head height.

And, in construction, 70% of all falls from vehicles occur to non-drivers, they happen to those loading and unloading the vehicle – perhaps in your yard.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the risk of falling from vehicles and the actions that can be taken to minimise those risks. As part of ‘Falls from Vehicles’, the HSE will be holding educational and promotional events throughout the period and will be carrying out focused inspections in October, November and December.
