South coast-based plumbers merchants HPS have added three new branches so far this year, taking their total to 24.
They have opened branches in Lymington, Hampshire, in January, and Christchurch and Poole in Dorset last month.
The independent merchants decided to continue their expansion programme, despite the tough market conditions, on the grounds that it was better to invest any cash rather than have it on deposit “earning almost nothing” with interest rates the way they are.
In addition, sales director Peter Wilson says that the current market situation has created opportunities to pick up “several excellent teams of people looking to work for a more dynamic and progressive company.”
They also planning to open a further branch later this year. “We believe the addition of all these new branches will put us in an even stronger position to benefit once the market begins to pick up, hopefully, in early 2010.”
