Honeywell gets baking for charity

Staff at heating control expert Honeywell have been busy baking ‘thermostat shaped’ cakes to raise money for charity.

They created a ‘fit a thermostat’ awareness day, to help staff understand how fitting a thermostat saves energy and helps reduce heating bills by up to £120 a year.

The day involved an office walk round handing out thermostat themed cupcakes to tempt staff to buy raffle tickets to win the ultimate prize – a huge programmer shaped ice cake! All the money collected from the raffle was then donated to Children In Need.

The aim of the day was to make employees aware that while the government is suggesting homeowners change energy suppliers, fitting a thermostat can actually save homeowners £10 a month on their energy bills, just by controlling their heating.

Andy Mansfield, marketing manager at Honeywell said: “Around 8 million homes do not have a room thermostat fitted and this can save £120* a year on heating bills.”
