H+H UK wins health & safety award

Aircrete manufacturer H+H has won the Best Health & Safety in Manufacturing category at The Safety & Health Excellence Awards 2020 for an innovative programme to improve safety in its yards and transportation.

There are two elements to the safety programme introduced during 2019: the first saw a complete reorganisation of our Pollington Yard. This reorganisation sees a strict one-way system with access routes re-designed and signage updated.

The second element focuses specifically on eliminating any working from height – which in the case of our yards means instituting an entirely mechanical loading and unloading process to stop people having to climb onto the back of lorries.

Jenny Smith-Andrews, Head of Marketing of H+H UK, says:  “H+H UK winning this award is testament to the forward-thinking and dedicated team we have here. Their tireless efforts to ensure that all of our staff in our Yards can complete their work in a healthy and safe environment has been deservedly recognised.”

The Safety and Health Excellence Awards, organised in conjunction with the British Safety Industry Federation, sees entries from a wide range of industry sectors. The awards, hosted by Alistair McGowan, celebrate the best in safety, health, security and fire practices and initiatives.

H+H had stiff competition in this year’s awards, with over 200 entries across 10 categories and 8 shortlisted organisations within the Best Health & Safety in Manufacturing category.
