Health and safety investment by Russell Roof Tiles

Russell Roof Tiles has once again proved it is leading the charge, becoming one of the first concrete roof tile manufacturers to adapt to new health and safety standards ahead of schedule.

The latest ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) 45001 Standard for occupational health and safety, had its guidelines revised in 2018 to further support businesses in providing a healthy and safe working environment for employees. Companies were given a three-year transitional period and deadline of March 2021, allowing sufficient time to fully adapt to the new requirements.

As part its continued investment in improving staff welfare, Russell Roof Tiles was dedicated to adapting its health and safety systems to meet the new standards as soon as possible. As a result, the leading roof tile manufacturer managed to achieve its aims in just 18 months, half the time of the transitional period.

This was accomplished through Russell Roof Tiles continually improving its risk management systems, making sure appropriate health and safety procedures were in place and passing regular audits, ensuring a safe working environment.

Daniel Hancox, business support manager at Russell Roof Tiles, said: “As a manufacturing business, it is our responsibility to continually look at new protocols and measures which will improve health and safety and make Russell Roof Tiles a suitable place of work for our employees, whether they are working in the office or on the production floor.

“The latest ISO 45001 certification recognises Russell Roof Tiles’ dedication to achieving the highest level of health and safety standards. The team were instrumental in going the extra mile to achieving these and should be commended in their efforts to secure the ISO accreditation ahead of time.”

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) develops international standards such as and is an independent, international agency with a membership of 165 national bodies.
