H&B adds two merchant members

Buying group H&B has recruited two new members: Cardi Building Supplies, a single-branch mixed merchant in south Wales, and Longwater Construction Supplies of Norwich, a single-site merchant which is strong in civils, but is also growing the mixed side of the business.

H&B has also completed its conversion from an unincorporated group to a Limited Liability Partnership – a process which began last July. Chairman Peter Buttle told BMJ that the moves puts the group “on a more legal footing”, reducing the potential liability for members and giving suppliers and potential suppliers greater reassurance.

The group is now actively looking to increase membership, he added – not just geographically, but also by recruiting more plumbing and heating specialists and civils specialists, and by locating heavyside businesses which would not directly compete with existing lightside merchants and vice versa.
