The Chilterns Cycle Challenge saw more than 400 charity bike riders take to the roads of the Chilterns in aid of the charity IRHH, Ian Rennie Hospice at Home.

Grant & Stone marketing manager told buildersmerchantsjournal.net: “We are proud sponsors of IRHH. We have been working closely with the IRHH for the last year and looking forward to supporting them in 2011.

“It was a overcast Sunday morning to set off on but the sun soon burnt through the clouds. A great day was had by all raising money for the great work for the IRHH nurses.”

IRHH supporters, with their families and friends, chose from three routes – 75 miles, 35 nmiles and 10 mile – all of which set off from Kingsbury Square in Aylesbury.

Event organisers Ruth Barber and Kerri Coote were delighted with the turnout and Coote said: “We would like to thank everyone involved in the event – all the cyclists, and also the many volunteers who helped us organise the event, and acted as marshalls on the day.

“They all helped to make our first Chilterns Cycle Challenge such a success. We reached our target for participants and now we’re hopeful everyone will aim to reach the individual target of £150, which funds Iain Rennie nursing care for a whole day.”
