Grafton Group buys Crescent Building Supplies

Builders merchanting and DIY Group Grafton has confirmed the acquisition of independent builders merchant Crescent Building Supplies.
Crescent trades from three branches in West London (Ruislip, Hillingdon and Uxbridge) and one in Berkshire (Maidenhead).

In a company statement, the Grafton Group says the bolt-on acquisition, which had revenue of £10.5 million in the financial year to 31 March 2014, improves the Group’s coverage of the merchanting market in West London and the South East of England.

The four branches will be integrated into the Buildbase division of Grafton Merchanting GB Ltd widening the Buildbase coverage across the South East.

Grafton Merchanting GB Ltd will be investing in the four branches, expanding the stock range and introducing Hirebase and Electricbase to further meet the needs of local tradespeople.

Mark Kelly, CEO at Grafton Merchanting GB Ltd said: “We are delighted to be able to extend our offering to building professionals across the South East. As well as welcoming new customers, we can reassure existing customers that they will retain all of their existing terms as well as the added benefit of being able to trade across the wider Buildbase UK branch network. We look forward to working with the Crescent Building Supplies team, who we are sure will benefit from being part of a larger Group.”

In September 2014, Grafton also completed the purchase of Kent-based Direct Builders Merchants Ltd.
