Grafton buys Silverstone

Irish builders merchant chain Grafton has bought Silverstone Builders Merchants of Cheddleton in Leek, Staffordshire.

The single-branch merchant has been aquired by Grafton’s UK operation Grafton Merchanting GB and will join the Buildbase brand, trading as Silverstone Buildbase.

Silverstone has been trading since the early 1970s, having begun as a haulage company that diversified into building materials. Serving a rural area, the company has a high percentage of delivered business and runs a three-vehicle fleet.

Nigel Wibberley, former owner at Silverstone Builders Merchant, said: “We have always given great customer service and this is a priority at Buildbase. The business will definitely benefit from being part of a large, progressive organisation.”
