The event was organised by Jewson employees Martin Cope, contractors team manager and Alex Rawson, sector director, contracts.

Starting out at the cheaper end of the Monopoly board on Old Kent Road, the walk finished at the most expensive end – Mayfair.

The sponsored event, in support of Macmillan Cancer Support has already raised £6,329, with sponsorship still coming in.

Among the Londoners encountered along the way were a Royal Marines Commando at Kings Cross, a Nurse in Islington, a Street Sweeper on Park Lane and inmates from HMP Pentonville.

“It was an interesting and exciting day as we got to meet so many different people. I worked in London for a number of years, and I still regularly travel there for work so I know the City well,” says Smith. “In terms of the public offering sponsorship it was in the less densely populated, less affluent, areas, where normal Londoners and tourists were happy to contribute and even pose with us for photographs and offer their moral support.”

Smith’s involvement in the sponsored walk is part of an ongoing collaboration between Graf UK and Jewson. The relationship between the two companies involves a number of initiatives such as joint visits to customers and working together to offer Graf UK products to customers on a wider national basis.
