Adhesive, tape and sealant brand, Gorilla Glue, brings back the Apprentice of the Year competition for 2019.
13 colleges from across the UK will be battling it out to bring home the Gorilla Glue Apprentice of the Year trophy, for their college.
Gorilla Glue Assistant Brand Manager, Leoni Brown, said: “We received such positive feedback from all of the colleges who participated in last year’s competition that we made the decision to bring back the competition for a second year and to make it bigger and better than before!
“We really want to see the creativity and natural talent from all of our participants and are looking forward to seeing the Gorilla Tough projects that they create.”
This year’s competition sees Skill Build judge and former BBC Young Carpenter of the year, Tibby Singh setting the brief in the heats stage, for all the apprentices to work and providing his industry expertise as a judge.
Tibby Singh said: “I believe that it’s important for students to take part in competitions whilst at college. It’s a great way to engage and encourage them to create something different from the usual curriculum course. Challenges like the Gorilla Glue Apprentice of the Year competition really do motivate young people who take part, not only in their college course but also in their career. I am looking forward to helping to inspire the next generation of young apprentices and I am excited to be involved.”
The 2018 Gorilla Glue Apprentice of the Year competition was a resounding success and the current title holder is Preston’s College Apprentice Jamie Stanley, who brought home the trophy for Preston with his incredible infinity table.
Mark Taylor, Head of School for Construction at Preston’s College, said: “Our win in the 2018 Gorilla Glue Apprentice of the Year competition highlights the quality of full-time and apprenticeship provision in a variety of trade areas that we have at Preston’s College.
“We all enjoyed participating in the competition, as we always encourage learners to be creative and develop key employability skills. We are very much looking forward to participating in the 2019 competition and we are hoping to retain the title for the second year running!”
This 2019 Gorilla Glue Apprentice of the Year will win a tool bundle worth £500 and a year’s supply of Gorilla Glue products.
