Gibbs & Dandy help youngsters train with Leeds players

Drighlington Juniors AFC and Tingley Athletic U7 were the two teams that won the ‘Name Em & Fame Em’ competition, organised by builders’ merchant, Gibbs & Dandy, to celebrate the opening of their new Leeds branch.
Young football enthusiasts from two local teams had a special training session to when they got to play under the guidance of Leeds United players, Eddie Gray and Noel Whelan.

The prize package included their training session, which took place on September 26th, in East Ardsley, as well as a new Gibbs & Dandy branded kit for each team, along with a selection of training equipment.

James Pullan, from Tingley Athletic, said: “The kids loved the entire experience and they had a lot of fun. Even though our players are only aged six and seven years, you could see they were really focusing on their skills and drills. I’m sure Noel and Eddie were impressed by the effort the kids put in.”

John Burnley, from Drighlington Juniors, added: “Noel has a UEFA B coaching licence and Eddie is a former two-time Leeds United manager, so the training session gave our players a great insight into how professionals train and prepare for matches.”

Mick Towey, Gibbs & Dandy Leeds branch manager, concluded: “Congratulations to both teams for winning this prize. Who knows, we may even see some of these youngsters one day stepping out on the hallowed turf of Elland Road.”
