Free ticket offer from BMJ.net

BuildersMerchantsJournal.net has 20 pairs of tickets to give away for the Big Green Home Show, organised by the National Self Build and Renovation Centre in Swindon.
The event which takes place next week (November 13-18) will showcase the latest technologies and products connected with sustainability, energy efficiency and all things eco-friendly. Visitors can also get the low-down on the latest legislation and policies.

Self-build experts BuildStore opened the centre in February 2007. They will examine the reality of sustainable building in terms of planning, costs and payback at the six-day show, at the national centre, just off the M4 at Swindon.

‘Big Green Heroes’ in the shape of the BBC’s Penney Poyzer and Dick Strawbridge, and Tommy Walsh will be on hand with advice. Plus feature presentations from Peter Ainsworth MP and EDF Energy.

As well as these eco-experts, visitors can hear from the people who have built their own eco-homes, talk with architects about designing and building ‘green’, tour a renovation house to discover how to renovate and update houses and save energy too, and check out the latest materials and products that can help reduce carbon and energy consumption.

More than 100 suppliers will be doing live product demonstrations, covering ground and air source heat pumps, wind turbines, photovoltaic cells, and water recycling products.

Tim Doherty, managing director at BuildStore, said: “As expected, the sustainability issue is a key feature of many self build and renovation projects, with our visitors looking for innovative energy-saving, eco-friendly materials, techniques and designs for their property projects.”
