Throughout last year, the company held various fundraising activities with employees taking part in the Edinburgh Half Marathon, Great North Run, Neon Nightwalk and a charity swim.

Other charitable events that helped F & P Wholesale achieve this impressive total included branch golf days, a ‘back to the floor’ challenge for directors, bucket collections, Christmas cards, sweepstakes and dress down days.

All the money raised has been donated to Whizz-Kidz, a charity which aims to help kids to be kids by providing powered and manual wheelchairs, skills training, and fun clubs to young disabled people. In 2012, Whizz-Kidz provided mobility equipment for 2,025 children and 1,500 adults, with an additional 1,700 children benefiting from their added value services.

After such a successful year in 2012, the team at F & P Wholesale has already been busy with plans to raise more funds this year, with various charitable endeavours planned for employees to participate in to support Whizz-Kidz for another year.

Mark Earnshaw, managing director of F & P Wholesale, says: “According to statistics, there are an estimated 70,000 disabled young people currently waiting for the right wheelchairs for them in the UK.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at F & P Wholesale who gave up their time to help raise such a fantastic amount of money for Whizz-Kidz – and here’s to another year of fundraising fun for this very worthwhile cause.”
