Exclusive: Building Supplies R Us bought by independent merchant

North West based independent builders merchants W J Lewis have acquired the assets of Building Supplies R Us Ltd, the failed internet building supply business.

W J Lewis are a family-owned and run merchant, based in Middleton, Manchester and are members of the National Buying Group. Building Supplies R Us is now a trading style of W J Lewis.

“We have agreements with leading builders merchants who are our partners around the country and we will be working with them to fulfil the orders. We attract the customer, take the orders then arrange delivery with a local merchant,” operations manager Jon Moore told buildersmerchantsjournal.net.

“We aim to keep things very simple, which is my idea of internet trading, a low cost efficient operation. We are targeting those customers who would never dream of going to a builders merchants yard, but who wish to buy building materials.”

Moore said that the company intend to take things slowly and develop the business at a steady pace. “We are taking orders day and night, supplying all types of building materials all over the UK. Who would have thought people would buy plasterboards at midnight?”

The company Building Supplies R Us Ltd collapsed in September owing hundreds of thousands of pounds to various creditors including builders merchants, distributors, manufacturers, HMRC and the banks.
