EMAP cancels Interbuild and BEST exhibitions

Trade exhibition organiser EMAP has announced the cancellation of its BEST, Interbuild Onsite and Glassex shows for 2011.

InstallerLive, which Emap acquired last Autumn, and The Infrastructure Show will still run as planned at the NEC in October 2011. The company is promising a new show for 2012, details of which have yet to be announced.

Interbuild was once the industy’s largest construction exhibition, taking over the whole of the NEC complex in the early 1990s. However, it had been losing focus for some years and was rebranded BEST (Built Environment Solutions and Technology) for 2010.

Richard Baker, MD of Emap Connect’s Construction portfolio said: “We believe this is the right decision at the right time. Market conditions are very tough and the industry needs a more targeted event which reflects the challenges of today’s UK construction industry. We will now be fully engaging with all parts of the market about plans we have to better serve the construction industry moving forwards. We still believe there is a need for a clearly targeted construction show of significant scale in the Midlands, and we will now consult openly with trade associations, potential exhibitors and visitors (buyers) as to the precise format this should take in 2012.”
