A new development for the 2010 show, the Ecobuild fringe is a series of events taking place throughout the show on a variety of related topics.
BioRegional’s series of workshops will offer some real and practical solutions to issues that can prevent developments becoming more sustainable, while from carbon Solutions there’s a look at how we can use more forest products and be less dependent on fossil fuels.
Carbon Solutions – wood in forests and green buildings: Forest products offer a great potential to ease our transition away from a fossil-fuel based economy, namely because of their carbon sequestration properties. Healthy growing forests not only naturally recycle carbon; they provide products that meet society’s demand for timber, fibre and energy.
Other topics covered include, new approaches to zero-carbon housing – new and retrofit, Can bio-based materials deliver better low carbon buildings? And how to unlock the potential of offsite integration.
The Timber Trade Federation will talk about what the timber supply chain needs to know about Euro Code 5, and the Concrete Centre will look at Thermal mass and changes to part L and SAP for housing, focusing on ways to minimise embodied and operational CO2 emissions in concrete and masonry buildings.
