Eclipse tightens its grip in the workshop

Eclipse – the professional engineering tool brand from Spear & Jackson – has a new range of quick release woodworking vices in its extensive portfolio of workshop tools.
Designed for general woodworking applications the range comprises two sizes – a 7in (178mm) and a 9in (230mm). Both sizes incorporate a number of refinements for ease of use and increased versatility, including an adjustable front stop, or dog, which provides an additional clamping facility when used in conjunction with a bench stop. This allows the vice to be used as a tail vice as well as conventionally. A quick release trigger enables the vice to be opened or closed quickly without using the main screw.

For added safety and to protect the vice’s mechanism the tommy bar is designed to bend before it over-stresses the jaws, slide rods and main screw.
