Dyson take top spot at Interbuild awards

The winners across the nine categories are British Gypsum, Festool, Stanley, Laser Surveys Ltd, QTronics (Europe Ltd), Quickbase, Beresford’s Flooring Ltd, L&R Products, British Hardwoods and this year’s overall winner Dyson.

It was the new Dyson Airblade, a hand drier that uses 80% less energy than conventional models, which took the top spot. Dyson trade marketing manager Sarah Dixon said: “The award is the best possible start to Interbuild for us. To stand out amongst some other great innovations at the show is particularly gratifying and supports all the hard work we’ve undertaken to bring the product to market.”

The other winners were British Gypsum, Best Interior product for GypWall Extreme; Festool Best Tools & Equipments for Long-reach Sander Planex LHS225; Stanley, Gadgets & Gizmos for FatMax XL FuBar. Laser Surveys Ltd, Best IT for their new on-line mapping portal centremapslive.com; QTronics, Best Building Services Product for their RCV Computerised System; Quickbase, Best Exterior Product award for the collaboration between Wykamol Group and Shire Structures, which produced a new foundation system which works without the need for mass concrete foundations; Beresford’s Flooring, Health & Safety award for the SLAPP Clamp; L&R Products, Offsite Solutions for Walls to Go and finally British Hardwoods, Energy Saving & Sustainability Award for their Green Floor product.

Chairman of the judging panel Michael Ankers said: “There are some truly inspirational innovations on show, many of which go a long way to overcome one of the industry’s biggest challenges: keeping up with changing legislation and regulation, which has been an obvious key driver in this latest wave of product development.

“Well done to all our short listed entries and a special congratulations to the winners. The standard of entries this year has been especially impressive and all the nominations deserve recognition for making an exceptional contribution to the construction products and services sector.”
