Dulux Trade invests biggest ever sum in merchants

Paint brand Dulux Trade is making its biggest- ever investment in in-store tinting machines for merchants.
Part of ICI Paints AkzoNobel, Dulux Trade’s investment is designed to put merchant stockists, including Dulux Decorator Centres, at the cutting edge of colour production.

A nationwide roll-out of new tinting machines and accompanying software to replace many of the company’s existing automatic machines is currently underway.

The new Dulux Trade tinting machines are cleaner, use less energy and have a faster simultaneous dispense method. The company will also take back the previous machine.

“The decision to make this substantial investment to improve the tinting capabilities of merchants all over the UK forms a major part of our colour strategy going forwards,” says Ann Noble, senior marketing manager for Colour at Dulux Trade. “This takes merchants’ colour production capabilities to the next level .

The new machines have 24 canisters, ensuring, Noble says, that they have built-in flexibility to cope with future demand. “We envisage this as a seamless transistion with our engineers going in at the right time to ensure that any downtime for the machinery is at an absolute minimum. We’ll also provide full training on the new machines and software.

“After a tough couple of years for all involved in the construction and RMI industries, it’s absolutely imperative that we continue to support all our customer bases, and give them the tools they need to ensure their respective businesses can thrive. As the recognised colour authority, we are in a unique position in that we can share our colour expertise with our merchant customers, helping them to become more colour confident and sell colour to their customers in turn.”
