Diploma success for Elliotts employees

A group of employees from Elliotts Builders Merchant, the South’s leading independent supplier of building products for the trade and public, have been awarded with Diplomas in Merchanting by the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF).

Portsmouth Branch Manager, Bobby Smith Jnr was awarded a Level 2 diploma. Totton Assistant Branch Manager, Dan Coombes and Chandler’s Ford Assistant Branch Manager Ian Woodhouse, were both awarded a Level 1.

 

Smith Jnr said: “Doing this qualification has given me a better understanding of how the merchanting business runs as a whole. It’s allowed me to run the Portsmouth branch more efficiently and effectively.”

 

The trio were awarded their diplomas after 2-and-a-half years of attending workshops and studying during evenings and weekends, but maintain that the effort was worthwhile.

 

Dan Coombes, Assistant Branch Manager at Totton, said: “It’s been good to action the things I learnt doing the diploma in an everyday working environment, especially around service and stock.”

 

Tom Elliott, Managing Director of Elliotts, said: “Bobby, Dan and Ian play important roles in making their branches a success and their new BMF diplomas will help them to continue their great work. Their continued commitment to their work whilst studying for the diploma reflects their dedication to Elliotts and our customers, and is a testament to their characters.
