Caulfield was given a tour of the depot by manager Phil Stillwell who explained its operations and products, as well as how the business gets involved with community projects and charitable giving. Caulfield also met Covers’ managing director, Henry Green and marketing manager, Ben Gale. The Green family has been running the independent business since the 1940s.

Maria Caulfield MP said: “It was great to visit the team at Covers Timber and Builders Merchants at their branch in Cooksbridge. Celebrating 175 years of business is an incredible achievement. Being a family firm, they are able to provide that personal service to both local builders and budding DIY enthusiasts and I wish them well in celebrating this brilliant milestone in their history.”

Phil Stillwell added: “We’ve worked hard to become one of the leading businesses in the area. We’ve built a loyal customer base and encourage the local community to use us for their construction and DIY needs. It was a pleasure to welcome Maria as part of our 175th anniversary celebrations and show her around.”
