Independent timber and builders merchant Covers teamed up with timber supplier SCA Timber to help out a primary school in Tunbridge Wells.
St John’s C of E Primary School wanted to build an outdoor worship area so they could hold outdoor assemblies and RE classes but also wanted somewhere that can be used for quiet contemplation by the pupils.
It was designed by a committee made up of teachers and parents and built by one of the parents with help from some of the children.
Covers’ commercial manager Simon Vyvyan said: “We are so pleased that we have been able to help St John’s School out with this. Tunbridge Wells is a new branch for Covers and it was really great to be able to do something for the local community. We have links with some of the parents and staff, so we were happy to support something that’s been designed and built by the teachers, parents and children. I think it looks fantastic and the whole school is going to really enjoy using the area.”
SCA Timber’s Lee Heiztman said: “SCA were happy to support the school and Covers with this initiative. It’s such a lovely design and we are sure that the children will really benefit from using it.”
St John’s School head teacher Beverley Sulway said; “We are very grateful to Covers and SCA Timber and to the parents, teachers and children who were involved in the concept, design and build. I’m sure it will form an important part of the children’s development.”
