Construction News names Jewson Materials Supplier of the Year

On Wednesday 24 February, Construction News hosted an event celebrating the “best specialist contractors in the UK”.

Jewson are aiming to create a more diverse workforce, by offering better maternity conditions, and providing work placements for young people through the charity Street League.

Women currently represent a third of Jewson’s operations management trainees, and three quarters of all new graduates are female.

Jewson has been heavily investing in training for employees and providing courses for customers. As part of the Saint-Gobain group it hosts training at Greenworks Training Academy to push knowledge of product developments and sustainability in the industry, as well as taking training to customers through the Build Tour.

In 2014 2.6% of their workforce was in formal training or education and it is working to raise this to 5% in the next two years.

2015 saw Jewson open their own dedicated Customer Experience Centre where customer ratings on service levels are monitored and analysed.

David Fenton, marketing director at Jewson said: “It’s great to be recognised in these awards. The judges commended our business for achievements in training and diversity, which is something we are very focused on.”
