Construction companies named as Business Superbrands

A number of construction companies, including builders merchant Travis Perkins, paint manufactuer Dulux Trade and plaster manufacturer British Gypsum, have been named as Business Superbrands for 2010.

The top ranking construction company is Bosch at 13, followed by Dulux Trade at 36, tool suppliers Black and Decker and Stanley at 59 and 64, respectively, while Travis Perkins are ranked 74th. Wickes, Travis Perkins retail arm is 84th, while British Gypsum is 207th. In between come Armitage Shanks at 102, Crown Trade at 110 and roof window specialist Velux at 133.

Business Superbrands identifies and pays tribute to the country’s top 500 strongest B2B names.

Stephen Cheliotis, chairman of the expert council & CEO, The Centre for Brand Analysis, said: “In this economic climate a powerful brand is more important than ever. It can be a key driver of new and repeat business and a positive influence on stakeholders, ranging from employees to suppliers. As such the results of this survey are not only interesting but ultimately useful in understanding the perception the market has of these brands, and therefore their likely potency and financial success”.
