The Lewes branch of Chandlers Building Supplies have announced their continued sponsorship of Lewes Ladies FC player, Bex Thompson-Agbro.
Defender Thompson-Agbro is a cornerstone player in defence and her experience will help the team, known as the ‘Rookettes’, finish even higher this season in the FA Women’s Premier League – Southern Division – than last. The Rookettes are keen to build on their success and Thompson-Agbro will play a key role.
To give them the best possible chance, Lewes Ladies FC is launching a Girls’ Football Academy Programme with Brighton’s Newman College in September. The partnership offers a two year programme of high-quality, full-time education, as well as exceptional academy-style coaching on Lewes Football Club’s new £1m 3G FIFA approved pitch.
Prior to joining the Rookettes from neighbouring Brighton and Hove Albion, Thompson-Agbro was one of the few gifted athletes to receive a scholarship from the University of Chichester, so knows how good coaching at a young age can help with development.
She said: “It is an exciting time at Lewes Ladies FC. We had a great finish to last season and the partnership with Newman College promises to bring young talent to the club. A big thank you to Chandlers for continuing its sponsorship and showing their support of the ‘Rookettes’.”
Stuart Campbell, branch manager at Chandlers Lewes, added: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring Bex again and wish her and the whole team all the best for the upcoming season.”
