Independent builders merchant buying group Cemco took ‘driving forward’ as its theme for its annual lightside Connect conference and networking event.
Hosted by Penny Mallory, the first female world rally driving champion, the Connect event told members and suppliers of the changes of the organisation is making to ensure that it best meets the challenges of the future.
The Cemco boards have also been restructured into an Executive Board and two trading boards, Lightside and Heavyside. “This is to give them autonomy within the trading arena, without the shackles of having to refer to the board,” Cemco’s David Hebdon told buildersmerchantsjournal.net.
“Things like organising their own rebate structures, for example, will be easier under this new structure.”
Hebdon was at pains to point out, however, that this is not a separation into two organisations. “On the contrary, the Executive Board will be overseeing the organisation on a more global level, if you like, steering it and ensuring that the needs of the members are met.” Hebdon will be the connection between the Executive and the Trading boards, sitting on all three.
