Ann Bentley Banner Image 731x390Since launch, Constructing Excellence Midlands is experiencing exponential growth, which could be down to the calibre of the board members that have been selected from the region’s leading construction companies. With high profile figures at the helm, the organisation is committed to improving business performance by driving innovation and best practice in the construction industry.

The inaugural Board Members include:

Mark Wakeford, Managing Director, of the Stepnell Group – one of the Midlands’ oldest and most successful construction and engineering companies – will chair CE Midlands. A Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and Cambridge University graduate, he has worked in the construction industry since 1989.

Mark will be joined by Ann Bentley, who is a Global Board Director for Rider Levett Bucknall, the independent construction, property and management consultancy, and a Member of the Construction Leadership Council. Ann’s expertise and government level thinking on issues affecting the business and the wider industry, will prove invaluable to the membership of CE Midlands. With more than 35 years’ experience in the property and construction sector, Ann has extensive experience in working with commercial, public and third sector clients.

Business Services Director for Woodhead Group, Tom Woodhead – joins the Board as Treasurer and the role of Company Secretary will be undertaken by Keith Blizzard, Chartered QS and Partner in the Construction & Engineering Team at Harrison Clark Rickerbys – specialist construction lawyers.

The CE Midlands Board has been set up together with a Leadership Council of 36 industry pioneers. The network has really stepped up to the plate with positive involvement from East Midlands, Herefordshire & Worcestershire, Shropshire, Birmingham, Black Country and Coventry & Warwickshire clubs.

The Board of CE Midlands has an outstanding range of expertise across a wide range of construction sector and associated professional networks – for more details on Constructing Excellence Midlands Board Members go to: cemidlands.org/about/meet-the-board

Created to stimulate, debate and drive much needed change in the sector – CE Midlands is a not-for-profit organisation owned by the members. A collaboration of Midlands regional businesses, the organisation works to support and advance the construction sector through knowledge share, networking and by engaging with government and major public sector bodies to influence policy and industry initiatives, to ultimately safeguard the business interests of the members.

Constructing Excellence is an organisation that provides an opportunity to learn and share best practice and then to use the knowledge gained to influence the future direction of travel. Already CE Midlands have adopted five best practice documents that will be implemented immediately – these cover procurement, both from a client and supply chain perspective, development finance, mediation and offsite legal matters.

CE Midlands are currently organising a series of ‘Thought Leadership Forums’ covering Construction Clients, Marketing, Sustainability & Innovation, Digital & Offsite, Procurement & Productivity and Generation for Change for those 35 years and under.
