It's all rather confusing. Driving to work at the beginning of this week I heard a report from the National Housing Federation which predicts house prices will rise by 25% over the next five years.

The saying goes that when America sneezes, the world catches a cold. And that's certainly been true of the financial crisis gripping the world which really got going in the US sub-prime housing market.

On holiday last week I saw something that, even now, a week later makes my blood boil to think about. A gorgeous lane in the Kent countryside, completely wrecked by the fly-tipping of an old kitchen, carcasses and units, sink, taps, plus the cardboard packaging of the new appliances. Hurrah! The number of mortgages granted to prospective home buyers in October was nearly double what it was at the same time last year.

The talk about the increasing possibility of a post- election hung parliament next week, plus Andy Brown's blogs about his cabinet Dream Team got me thinking. It's only a bit of fun, but here is my pick of who I would like to see in which post.

I'm not really one for looking back, but man, am I glad to have seen the back of 2010.

This time a year ago, the British voting public decided that they had had enough of two party politics and put enough little crosses on enough little pieces of paper to produce the almost unthinkable - a government that included the Liberal Democrats.

Hands up who hasn't done this, or something very similar.
