Burdens buy pipeline specialists

Specialist civils merchants Burdens have bought Total Pipeline Specialists (TPS).

The company, based in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, employs nine people and has a particular focus on the utilities markets, specifically the water sector.

In the short term, TPS will retain its own identity, however longer term it will be integrated into the Burdens systems and supply chain operations.

In April Burdens also expanded their green credentials with the acquisition of pioneering environmentally-conscious builders merchant Ecomerchant.

Joe Wild, founder of Ecomerchant said: “This development is very welcome, we recognise and value the strength Burdens will bring to the brand. Their company structure was equally important, the unique shareholding was of great significance to us in maintaining ethical standards of business.”

Burdens is 46% owned by a charitable foundation where a proportion of profits are re-invested into society through good causes, this is central to the company’s campaign for a “Better way to do business” with emphasis on the highest standards of integrity and social responsibility in all trading relationships.
